In many countries, Christmas is on 25 December. However, Christmas in Armenia is on 6 January.
At first, this seems surprising. Still, there is a strong reason behind it.
At STEP Beyond Borders, our Armenia team recently celebrated Christmas.
So, we want to share this special story with you.
Armenia follows the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Because of this, Armenia follows old Christian customs.
Long ago, all Christians celebrated Christmas on 6 January.
Later, many countries changed the date.
However, Armenia kept the original day.
As a result, Armenians celebrate two events together:
The birth of Jesus Christ
The Epiphany
In addition, Armenia has a unique place in history.
It was the first country to accept Christianity.
This happened in 301 AD.
Because of this long history, Armenian Christmas traditions remain strong.
Even today, people follow them with care.
Christmas in Armenia is calm and peaceful.
It is not loud or commercial.
Instead, it focuses on faith and family.
For example, people take part in:
Church prayers
Candle lighting
Family meals
Traditional food
On 5 January, families go to church in the evening.
After that, they return home.
Then, they eat together.
Meanwhile, winter adds beauty to the season.
Snow covers streets and old churches.
As a result, Armenia feels quiet and warm.
Christmas in Armenia is more than a holiday.
Instead, it is a cultural experience.
Because of this, visitors learn deeply.
For instance, visitors can:
Learn about early Christianity
Join local traditions
Meet Armenian families
See history in daily life
At STEP Beyond Borders, we offer programs in Armenia.
These programs focus on real experiences.
They include:
Volunteer abroad programs
Cultural exchange programs
Study tours
Youth and student exchanges
So, participants do not just travel.
Instead, they live the culture.
Armenia offers history and tradition.
On the other hand, India offers growth and opportunity.
Today, India is one of the fastest-growing economies.
In fact, it is now the 4th largest economy worldwide.
Because of this, India is ideal for:
Internships
Volunteer programs
Language learning
High school exchange
Study tours
Together, India and Armenia offer balanced learning.
One shows the past.
The other shows the future.
STEP Beyond Borders focuses on meaningful travel.
We believe travel should have purpose.
Therefore, we work in:
India
Armenia
Nepal
Our programs are:
Affordable
Ethical
Community-based
Because of this, students gain real value.
They grow through culture and learning.
Today, our Armenia team celebrates Christmas on 6 January.
So, we send warm wishes to you.
Merry Christmas from Armenia.
